I’m not a big drinker. Really. But some days I just want some tequila, man.
Welcome to the weekend, baby.
Grapefruit Tequila Sunrise (adapted from Cocktail by Hamlyn)
- 5-6 ice cubes
- 1 measure tequila
- 4 measures grapefruit juice
- 3 t grenadine
This isn’t a true tequila sunrise–that’d be made with orange juice instead of grapefruit juice. But it’s grapefruit season and I love me some sour citrus (even though this was surprisingly not a bitter or sour drink at all!).
Shake all the ingredients together and serve.
Love me an easy drink, too.
The grapefruit I used happened to be pretty sweet–if you need a little more sugar, add some simple syrup or go back to orange juice. Easy peasy.
The one thing about this drink that could be dangerous is that it barely tasted like alcohol! Grapefruit juice is pretty good at disguising that taste, and I drank this pretty quickly without any wincing or cringing. Good thing I only made one, right?
Plus, I love how pretty and pink it was with the grenadine. TGIF, friends!
We have snow on the forecast tonight, and even though I have a lot of stuff to do tomorrow, I’m secretly hoping that we are snowed in all day and forced to cuddle and make banana pancakes in our pajamas. I haven’t been able to cook much this week, and I hoping to make up for lost time this weekend. So many recipes I want to try!
Henry now has easier access to our ridiculously tall bar since we added the new table, and he’s found it to be the perfect perch from which to survey our entire house. Man’s gotta know what’s goin’ on.
What are you up to this weekend?
